It is mostly scarlet or maroon with a black section at the topIt is suspended from a silver coloured mount which is in the form of a stylised thistle flower. It has a short brown leather strap with a brass buckle It would have been worn under the throat of an officer's charger. The thistle design links it to a Scottish regiment.
